We measured from each town’s centre
A town here is a population centre: its built-up area in the 2021 Census. We place each one at its centre.
We measure a straight line from that centre to the nearest office of a business for hire with an active C-NRPP mitigation credential. Any office in Canada counts, even across a provincial border. Each town falls within 50 km, 50 to 100 km, or more than 100 km. We also show the 2024 Cross-Canada Survey of Radon’s share of homes at or above 200 Bq/m³ for the town’s census division, where the survey prints one. Some divisions share a pooled figure.
This edition counts the towns of Atlantic Canada
We counted 99 towns in Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, holding 1,343,172 people. Offices come from the C-NRPP directory pulled on 2026-10-21.
What this edition cannot tell you
- It leaves out people who live outside towns, in rural areas.
- An office is not a service area. Many businesses travel further than 100 km, and some not 25. C-NRPP does not publish where they travel.
- Distances are straight lines. Roads make real trips longer, most of all in rural areas, so every distance is approximate.
- Until C-NRPP clears reuse, this data carries no licence statement.
