How to report an error, and the log of corrections made

How to report an error to the Canadian Radon Services Index, how quickly corrections are made, and the dated log of every correction.

To report an error on this site, write to us through the contact page with the page address and the statement you believe is wrong. This page holds the policy for how we handle a report. Below it is the log of every material correction, newest first, kept on this page from launch.

Send the page address, the claim in question and the source that contradicts it

A report needs:

  • the page address
  • the statement in question
  • what you believe is wrong with it
  • a supporting source if you have one

You do not need to be an expert to report an error. Say what you believe is wrong in your own words. A report without a source is still checked. That includes a report from a listed professional, a journalist or an organization we cite.

Reports go by email through the contact page. There is no form at launch. See where to send your report.

We check the source before changing anything

We acknowledge a report within 2 business days. Then we check the statement against the source our sourcing policy names for that kind of claim. If the source shows the statement is wrong, we correct the page and add a note. We fix a data or safety error within 5 business days, and any other substantive error within 15.

A claim that cannot safely stay online while we check it is amended or removed in the meantime. When a source issues a new edition or materially changes its guidance, we update the page. Where the change affects what you were told before, we name the source change on the page. See which source we check each kind of claim against.

If the source itself is disputed, we say so rather than silently change a number

When the evidence does not settle a question, the page says so. We do not present uncertainty as certainty, and we do not change a number to make a question look settled. When two organizations publish different estimates of the same thing, we do not merge them into one number.

The log on this page lists every material correction, newest first.

Substantive corrections are noted on the page, not overwritten

A material correction changes:

  • a statistic
  • a health, testing or mitigation recommendation
  • a code or legal requirement
  • the meaning of a substantive statement

Each one gets a dated note on the page that shows the original claim. For example:

This page previously described the 17.8% figure using the Version 1 wording of the 2024 survey, which referred to people. Version 1.1 states it as residential properties. The page now says properties. The percentage is unchanged.

Spelling, formatting, broken links, typography and clarifications that do not change meaning are fixed without a note. See what the dates on a page mean and what moves them.

Accurate, properly sourced information is not removed because a company, contractor or manufacturer objects to it. A business’s registry facts stay. On request, a provider page is reduced to a minimal listing, and an individual can have their name withdrawn. See how a listed business asks for a correction or a reduced listing.
