Where to borrow a radon detector in Canada

This graphic shows where in Canada a library or a local program lends radon detectors or gives out free test kits. A census division is orange if at least one program serves it, from our radon funding programs dataset. The headline counts everyone in a division that any program serves, even if the program covers only part of it. We redraw the graphic whenever a program is checked or changes.

An orange division has at least one program

An orange division has at least one lending or free-kit program. Grey means “None found”: we have not found a program there. A province-wide program counts in every division there, and a library system counts in each division it serves.

Some programs set a loan period, a waiting list, a season or an income limit; the table links each program to its own page, where its terms are. A library detector, borrowed for a short time, gives a first reading, and Health Canada recommends a long-term test of at least 3 months.

Tell us about a program we missed

If your library or program lends radon detectors and is not on the map, tell us through the corrections page. We check each program on its own page before we add it. A division marked “None found” may still have a program we have not found.
