This dataset shows how far Canadians live from a business certified to fix radon. For each census division, each province and Canada, it gives the share of people within 25, 50 and 100 km of the nearest certified mitigator’s office. This version counts 174 mitigators, from the C-NRPP registry pulled on 2026-10-21.

We build it from three public sources
A mitigator is a business for hire with an active C-NRPP mitigation credential. We also count businesses with an active measurement credential. We build the data in four steps, from the C-NRPP directory and the Statistics Canada 2021 Census:
- We count businesses in the C-NRPP Find a Professional directory on a dated pull.
- We place people where they live: the 2021 Census population of each populated dissemination area, at the area’s centre.
- We place each office at the centre of its postal code area, weighted by where people live in it. An office in a rural postal area goes to its town.
- We measure the straight-line distance from the centre of each dissemination area to the nearest mitigator’s office.
Until C-NRPP clears reuse of its directory data, this data carries no licence statement.

Each row is a census division, a province or Canada
Each row names a census division, a province or territory, or Canada. It shows how many people live there, and how many mitigators and measurement businesses have an office in it. Three columns give the share of people within 25, 50 and 100 km of the nearest mitigator’s office. One more counts the people further than 100 km away.
Two columns help you weigh the distance, and both are filled for census divisions only. The first is the distance from where the division’s people live to the nearest mitigator’s office. The second is the 2024 Cross-Canada Survey of Radon’s share of homes at or above 200 Bq/m³ for the division’s reporting unit. It is blank where the survey prints no share.

Every distance is approximate
Three limits apply to every distance:
- Roads make a real trip longer than a straight line, most of all in rural areas.
- Placing offices by postal area makes every distance approximate.
- An office is not a service area. Many businesses travel, some further than 100 km and some not 25. C-NRPP does not publish where they go.
